Flower Pot fabric Honeybun quilts

$5 in May: Rugby Stripe Quilt

Time to air out the summer quilts – picnics, fireworks, and pool parties are up ahead. For May’s $5 pattern, I’ve selected Rugby – a simple stripe quilt you can make in a jiffy. Make it with a Honeybun (1.5″ strips) or fat eighths. Just think how cool this quilt would be in a beachy red + white + blue vibe…

The original Rugby quilt shown above it is made in Harvest Road fabrics (now out-of-print). You can get a similar look using my new Flower Pot collection that is just arriving to shops. Use a Honeybun for maximum scrappiness like I did – or zero in on a few of your favorite fat eighths for a simpler look. The mockup below uses a tonal cream “Garden Dot” background (SKU 5163-11).

For a whiter background option, I would recommend Moda Bella Solid #9900 98. Here’s what that would look like instead:

This is one of my all-time favorite designs for a “guy” quilt. (Wouldn’t it be cool in Smoke & Rust fabrics? With a charcoal background?) Make sure you grab it while it’s on sale May 2022.
