Magic Dot Fabric Spring Quilts

Spring Fling Quilt in Magic Dot Fabric

Spring is in full bloom – and this bold geometric flower quilt is the star of the show. For these patchwork blossoms, I’ve handpicked the most luscious, soft hues of Magic Dot fabric and set them against a rich, moody green backdrop. Think of it as the perfect “garden” for your bed – no digging or weeding required!

Pattern Tidbits

When it comes to making the “Spring Fling” flower quilt, get ready for a combination of beginner techniques like half-squares triangles and easy corner triangles. I’ve made this one a couple times now and it’s still one of my favorites! (I never thought I’d love any version more than the original in Folktale fabric, but this one somehow this one eclipsed it.)

The Magic Dot Version

This version of “Spring Fling” is made using my upcoming Magic Dot collection for Moda Fabrics arriving to shops Oct 2024. I’ve put together a materials list for you below for easy shopping. You’ll notice next to each SKU, I’ve also designated how each SKU is used in the quilt. (For example, the aqua “Cotton Candy” SKU is used for flower centers AND flower petals AND stems.) This list will look a little different than the pattern materials list because I’ve already combined the yardages that need to be combined. Hope it helps!

I’ve also added a “Spring Fling” Cutting Guide for the Magic Dot version HERE… Since the pattern instructions separate everything out, I figured it might be nice to have a “cheat sheet” for different cutting scenarios to prevent waste.

And now… onto the details of this. The quilting is SO yummy and dense. Susan Vaughan (genius creator behind the Felted Pear and also my tech editor) did a phenomenal job.

I also mocked this one up with the “Fern” green color as the background. At first it was difficult for me to decide which one to make, but I couldn’t resist the drama of the contrast of this darker green one. Which one is your favorite?

Love the pattern and love it in the new Magic Dot fabric! I agree. At first, I wasn’t sure about the dark green, but when comparing the two, I think the darker green background really makes things pop in the foreground, plus it looks real grassy!
