Time for the newest Sewcialites 2 free block of the week! Today’s pattern is Block 5 is “Empower” by Carrie Nelson.

Block 5: “Empower”

The construction of this block does not use difficult techniques, but there are a lot of pieces, and some of them are small. One thing I love about the way the instructions are written is the half-square triangles (HSTs) will be a little larger than you need, allowing you to trim them to the exact size needed.

Fabric

The first block is mocked up in Country Rose fabric – out in shops now. This is scaled to represent the 6″ finished block size. I adore the sophisticated look of the pinks and taupes together.

The second digital mockup is made up in Christmas Eve fabrics (shipping May 2023). I decided to use the red Merry Dot for the background this time. The other prints have a pretty contrast against the red. A whole quilt made out of those blocks would be just lovely!
