Sewcialites 2: (Block 4)

It’s Friday, and I’m in love… Time for the newest Sewcialites 2 free block of the week! Block 4 is “Flirty” by Chelsi Stratton. This week’s block is such a sweet and simple block.

Block 4: “Flirty”

This block is perfect for any skill level with its beginner half-square triangle technique. Because of the block’s simplicity, it’s a great opportunity to showcase big, bold fabric prints.

Fabric

The first block is mocked up in Country Rose fabric – out in shops now. This is scaled to represent the 6″ finished block size. I thought it was a great opportunity to showcase the larger floral mixed with a big of gingham in the center. It’s so cheery in this golden yellow color.

The second digital mockup is made up in Christmas Eve fabrics (shipping May 2023). I decided to use the lighter green for a background and highlight some of the pale prints. If using unidirectional prints like I did with the stripe – just pay attention to the direction of the marked diagonal line when making the HSTs (make sure they are identical).

    Okay, so I am thinking that I may have to join Sewcialites 2 late and use Country Rose fabric! I love Christmas Eve and have preordered a half yard bundle but that won’t be here for a while. What white would you use for the background fabric?

      Hi Tina!
      I would use one of the Magic Dot prints within Country Rose – there is a white on white dot or a multicolor dot on white option. Otherwise, I like Bella Solid 9900 98. Hope that helps!

      Hi Barbara. You weren’t doing anything wrong. They don’t give us the link in advance and I went out of town when this posted so I wasn’t able to update until now. They always post the pattern on the Jolly Jabber blog first. It’s updated now 🙂
