Moda Blockheads 4 (Block 10)
It’s only May, but it’s a celebration of leaves today with the new free block for Moda Blockheads 4. Block 10 is “Autumnal” by Chelsi Stratton. Go visit her blog today to download the free block and give her some love on this cute block design.
Block 10 “Autumnal”
While this block can definitely feel like it belongs to the fall season, your fabric choices can really make it for any time of year! As usual, the only modification I made to assembly was to begin with squares 1/2″ bigger than what my finished half-square triangles need to be trimmed to.
Fabric
For the first block, I used Love Note fabric to give it more of a spring leaf vibe. One of my favorite details about this block is the taupe “Alcott” text print I used for the background. Fun fact – I created this text print from my Grandma’s vintage copy of Rose in Bloom by Louisa May Alcott. Of course, I had to pay attention to the marked diagonal line placement to make sure the text print all faced in the same direction.
The second set is in Flower Pot fabric. I could have made a million different combination of these leaves. They are so fun to mix and match! Flower Pot precuts are available in shops now and yardage is trickling in as we speak! To celebrate, keep your eyes out for a fabric giveaway later this week.
Sew Along!

May 26, 2022 at 12:33 pmVanessa, I love this collection! I am thinking of trying a blue and cream quilt and another with all the colors. I already have almost all of your patterns, so the top 5 for a Flowerpot quilt are:
1) Bloomers
2) Gingham Style
3) Flourish
4) Haven
5) Trinkets
