Fracture Modern Flag Quilt in Old Glory Fabric
Now that all the new quilts are introduced, I want to talk about some others that would be fantastic in Old Glory fabric. (I am yet to find a quilt this collection doesn’t look fabulous in.) This is “Fracture” and was created a few years back for the Smoke & Rust collection. I remember thinking at the time that it could look like a fractured American flag if done up in red + white + blue. And in fact, I made one already in a bunch of Bonnie & Camille prints here.
Pattern Tidbits
Fracture can be made with fat quarters or fat eighths… I mocked the quilt up using (30) fat eighths. (You would make this using a full fat eighth bundle + add 5 extra fat eighths – double up on your favorite prints!) The Fracture block uses a log cabin style construction style with a few easy corners added to give the angles. I would consider this advanced beginner skill level for anyone curious about that.
If you are interested in a kit in Old Glory fabric, the best thing would be to reach out to your favorite local or online shop to request one. (Shops have a few more weeks to order this collection for February 2023.) The white background print is the white-on-white star print from the collection (“Star Spangled”). It might be hard to see, but the binding is the blue version of “Star Spangled.” For the backing, pick your favorite print for the collection.

August 1, 2023 at 7:46 amI love the softer shades of red & blue in this collection. I’m not general a red, white & blue girl but this inspires me. Gorgeous!

August 1, 2023 at 10:45 amThank you for posting this re-colored pattern. Old Glory is a beautiful fabric collection and allows the beauty of the colors to shine. Other fabric collections use literal images such as flags & fireworks and I much prefer the beautiful flowers, subtle lines, dots and stars. It implies Old Glory without saying it, making it much more versatile. I am looking forward to the fabric release!

August 1, 2023 at 11:01 amIt’s going to be hard to wait until next year for this collection…..it’s soooooo pretty and your patterns incorporating the line are so tempting. I made your Fractured pattern in a red, white and blue collection from last year’s Liberty Box from the Fat Quarter Shop. Love how it turned out.
