Moda Blockheads 4: (Block 5)
Another week, another sweet block for Moda Blockheads 4 quilt along. This week’s free block comes from Barb Groves of Me & My Sister Designs. Block 5 is “Two of Five.” Please visit the Moda blog post here to download the free block and learn about the inspiration behind this block. You can also give Barb some love on Instagram @meandmysisterdesigns.
Block 5 “Two of Five”
You know I’m always happy to see a simple block since I’m making the 4.5″ finished version. When making half-square triangles (HSTs) for these sampler blocks, I always start out with squares 1/2″ bigger than what the HSTs need to be trimmed to.
Fabric
The first block is made in my Love Note fabric collection (currently in shops). I definitely needed more pink blocks in the mix of that group, so I used the pale pink herringbone for the background and added a nice contrast with the darker pink “Lovey Dot” heart print. The center called for a little more interest, so I went with the cheery daisy print.
The second set is in Flower Pot fabric – coming to shops soon! (Hopefully the end of this month/early May.) It’s a lot of fun to play with fabric combinations for this one.
Have you been keeping up with the Moda Blockheads facebook group? It’s so much fun to see all the different interpretations of the blocks every week. So much creativity going on!
