Charm Pack quilts Free Patterns Love Note fabric

FREE Chandelier Quilt Pattern + Video Tutorial

Popping in to share this adorable version of the Chandelier quilt made by Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Co. Chandelier is a FREE charm pack pattern by Vanessa Goertzen. It features cascading diamonds and originates from my book: Charm School – 18 Quilts from 5″ Squares. Jenny used Love Note fabric to make hers – and even added a border to frame it with the sweet “Rose in Bloom” print. It is definitely one of my favorite versions I’ve seen. Makes me want to drop everything and make one now!

If you know Jenny, you know she is a fantastic teacher. She put together this amazing YouTube video tutorial on how to make the “Chandelier” quilt using my free pattern. I hope you’ll give it a watch and see just how easy it is to make this quilt.

To access the Chandelier pattern instructions, I’ve included a link below:

Just keep in mind – if you decide to add a border like Jenny, this will require some adjustments to backing, batting, and binding fabric requirements! If you make a Chandelier quilt, be sure to share on social media with the hashtags #ChandelierQuilt #LellaBoutique and #CharmSchoolQuilts.

If you’ve enjoyed this pattern (and are a fan of charm pack patterns in general), check out the other 17 patterns included in my Charm School book.

One of the best things about this quilt is it looks great in any fabric line. What fabric will you use for yours?

Thank you for this pattern! I watched Jenny’s video and loved the pattern. I am completing the Rose in Bloom QAL so will find another fabric for this quilt. Love all that you do!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern. I was thinking of using mini charms for the corners and a Jellyroll for the stripes and then using a dark background. We shall see I’m new at quilting and not to go at cutting fabrics correctly.
I have purchased the book so I can make more of your patterns.

Thank you for being so kind to share such a delightful pattern on your blog. Yes Jenny is a very good teacher and explains it all so well. I think your Love Notes collection is your best one yet but I say that about all of yours as I see them. Keep up the beautiful work you do.

I made your Chandelier quilt from your book that I got at my local library. Love the quilt! My daughters both want it so I’ll have to make another. I added a 9 inch navy blue border and it’s spectacular.

That sounds wonderful! I love it with the addition of a border, really frames it in nicely. 🙂

Vanessa, I am not sure you know, but Donna Jordan of http://www.JordanFabrics.com has a video on YouTube saying that she designed this pattern and renamed it “Beads”. I made a comment on the video last night saying that she was not the designer of the pattern and that it was yours. I posted a link to this page and to the Amazon page that sells your book. I discovered this morning that my comment was taken down. I hate to see people cheated out of their work, so I just thought you would like to know. Jenny certainly gave credit to you for designing this beautiful quilt!

You know what, I have actually heard about this. I’m not sure if she copied my design or not. From what I can see, she uses a completely different method. Where it’s a pretty basic block on point, I think it’s very possible she could have come up with it. Thanks for having my back and keeping an eye out. (Unfortunately, this sort of thing does happen.) XO

Actually mine came first. It was published in my Charm School book in 2016 (the book arrived to shops March 2017). But as I said in another comment, it is a pretty basic block so I wouldn’t necessarily assume she copied. From what I can see, it’s a completely different construction method. There’s room for us all 🙂

I’d like to make a smaller version for a baby quilt. Any suggestions? Thank-you very much! 🌹

Yep, you could just make fewer blocks and nix a column and/or a row. It just depends on the exact size you’re going for. Of course, that would also probably mean a few less side triangles. Hope that helps!

Need to know how to press seams. Is the arrow shown the direction of seams in the rows.

Thank you for this terrific pattern! I bought Charm School a few years ago for this pattern, because I had made your Chandelier 2 pattern and LOVED IT! The book was on my shelf and I had forgotten about making it until Jenny’s video. You make amazing patterns!

(Personal question, not for comment section.) Each year at our quilt show, we do a “Quilters Basket” where each person makes a block we choose and contributes it. Then we have a drawing and give all the blocks to the winner. We would like to use your chandelier block this year. Can we get your permission to put it on our site for this year? We will give you permission, of course (and mention your book.) Ours is the Snow Goose Festival Quilt Show in Delta, Utah. We are trying to get everything all finished up for the show right now. Thank you!

Thank you for this free pattern! This was my first attempt at a larger quilt top. I added 6” borders of Rose in Bloom print in the color Grass. I am tempted to do the backing in the Alcott Text color Dove. As this being my first I just don’t know if that lighter color is ok for a backing. I’d like to use either Tea Rose Crush or Tea Rose Herringbone for the binding. Would love your advice

I am cutting out this quilt, and thinking ahead to the actual quilting. I am a hand quilter and wonder if your book tells how to quilt the quilt? I saw on Pinterest some chandelier quilts where the large and small squares were quilted to look like a prism–is that described how to do in your book? Thanks for the free pattern, look forward to checking out more of your patterns!

I was wondering if the 5 dollar patterns for the Monster Mash quilt along will be available again. Three are sold out!
