Smoke & Rust Fabric by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics
There is something sacred about being in the mountains. Walk along the misty trail and fall in love with colors intensified by an overcast sky. In my desert home, much of the earth is framed with rust colored mountains and majestic stone cliffs. Some have been brushed with strokes of charcoal to match the richness of the lava fields. Autumn often arrives late, and if you’re lucky, you may get a glimpse of a drying leaf with the lightest dusting of snow. The birds flying through the mist are silent… like me, they feel the reverence of being in such a mesmerizing place.
Nature has many kinds of beauty; the Smoke & Rust collection evokes the colors and textures of my beloved home, and is designed for masculine and modern tastes alike.

June 28, 2021 at 9:24 amI am late to the game there. I just bought S & R layer cakes from Green Fairy Quilts. Thank you So MUCH for designing fabric which are neutral and can be used in teen boy quilts. I run a chapter of Project Linus and it has been so hard to get people to make blankets, quilts and afghans for teen boys. Most of what I get are pink, purple and flowered smaller quilts for girls. I ask volunteers to please remember that teen boys get sick or traumatized or are underprivileged too. Or sometimes a teen girl wants a neutral-colored quilt, having outgrown the pink and purple flowers of her childhood. However, if there aren’t enough neutral or guy-themed fabric out in the stores or on fabric websites, we can’t make the needed quilts for older boys. Thank you for providing the needed fabric in the otherwise feminine marketplace. I hope you will consider designing more neutral and guy-themed fabrics in the future.

June 29, 2021 at 7:58 amThank you so much for your comment and insights. I completely agree that boys tend to be left out when it comes to quilting. So glad you like Smoke & Rust and will definitely keep it in mind for the future 🙂
