“Wild Hare” Bunny Quilt
The new quilts in Lovestruck fabric are here – and the first one may have you doing a bunny hop over to your sewing machine! “Wild Hare” features a forest of sweet little bunnies playing under the stars. While I used a white background (the “Delicate Dot” in Cloud-White – a tonal polka dot), I’m totally dreaming and scheming about a true “nighttime” version with a dark background. Can’t you just picture it?
Even though Lovestruck fabric won’t arrive until November, the “Wild Hare” quilt pattern is available NOW as a PDF or printed booklet. (It’s also 20% this week only -through 5.13.23- along with the rest of the new Lovestruck patterns.)
Pattern Tidbits
“Wild Hare” is a sequel of sorts to my Cottontail/Little Cottontail bunny quilt patterns. I have always wanted to make a smaller version of the Cottontail bunny block (which finishes at a whopping 21″ x 21″)! The “Wild Hare” bunny block is half that size, finishing at 10-1/2″ x 10-1/2.
“Wild Hare” is fat quarter friendly. When choosing prints for the bunnies, I liked using more near-solid prints since the block is so petite. (To avoid losing the small eye detail or overall shape of the bunny.)
The “tree” triangle shapes are made using a no-waste technique for flying geese… which I wasn’t sure about when I first tried it – but am 100% on board with now. (Who comes up with these things?) One thing I love about it (besides no waste) is that it seems like my flying geese come out a little more precise than before. Keep in mind, the only downside to this technique is it does not accommodate unidirectional prints. (I don’t personally mind, but if that sort of thing bothers you, consider replacing the “Old Fashioned Bloom” with something else.)
Kits
I always get questions about quilt kits. I generally do not ever carry kits because I want you to support the quilt shops. If you are interested in a “Wild Hare” kit, the best thing to do is reach out to your favorite local or online shop to see if they take preorders or reservations. Right now is when shops need to order supplies, so this is helpful for them as well so they can make sure to have enough to meet demand. Hope that helps!

- Pantograph: “Juju Beans” by Sew Shabby Quilting
I adore the quilting on this. I think it’s pretty neat that my long arm quilter (Melissa @ Sew Shabby Quilting) is also the designer of the pantograph. This was my first quilt with Melissa and she was really great to work with. She has generously extended a great offer on long arm quilting for Lella Boutique fans! In 2023, you can get 25% off long arm quilting from her on any quilts using Lella Boutique fabric OR patterns. (Pretty awesome, if you ask me!) Just mention this deal when you fill out the long arm request form on her website here.
