Sewcialites 2: (Block 1)
Time for a look at block 1 of the Sewcialites Free Block of the Week hosted by Fat Quarter Shop. Block 1 is “Perennial” by Bev McCullough of Flamingo Toes. Be sure to visit her blog and give her some love.
Block 1 “Perennial” in Country Rose fabric
This block is so unusual and sweet. I wanted to fashion it to look like a flower so I have the soft pink petals, rosy center, and leafy corners using Country Rose fabric. While this block uses a beginner “easy corner triangle” technique, there are many pieces and steps. I would classify it as “intermediate” skill level.
Alternate in Christmas Eve Fabric
I couldn’t help it. I had to mock it up using my upcoming Christmas Eve collection (arriving to shops May 2023). I thought it looked like a fancy little peppermint in Christmas prints. Ooh I just may need to make this one for real!

October 22, 2022 at 8:09 amI enjoyed making this block yesterday. I am making the 3 1/2-inch blocks for this sew along, and I am using fabric from my scrap box. My goal is to use only scraps for the entire quilt. It might not make the best color coordinated blocks but will make a lovely wall hanging!! Thanks for providing this interesting block.

October 24, 2022 at 1:45 pmThank you so much for posting the Sewcialites 2 sew along. I am taking pictures of the blocks and printing out the patterns. I don’t have time to follow it right now, but I will enjoy it when I can finally get to it. Finishing up stuff for Christmas and just don’t have the time to start a new project. Thanks so much for your posts. Appreciate it and I LOVE your fabric lines!!

October 28, 2022 at 12:31 amI’m using Flower Pot and Harvest Road for Sewcialites 2. My first block turned out in a similar format to yours – one color (instead of two) spinner. Mine was due to a mistake, but I’m sure no one will know I screwed up. I’m looking forward to this sew along and hope I can keep up! Thank you for your inspiration.

October 28, 2022 at 9:28 amLove your sewcialites 2 blocks 1 and 2 out of Country Rose. Wondered if you were going to include fabric cutting instructions
for the blocks at any time. Have figured the cuttings for these two, but being a less than stellar mathematician, it took me forever!
Thanks for your gorgeous fabrics and wonderful insperation!
