Folktale Fabric Matching Solids

Folktale Fabric Collection

Come along for a walk on an old forest path. The sun is heading to bed, scattering the last bits of light in and around the trees. It is a wild wonderland; a thick woodland brimming with enchanted blooms of pink, white, and gold. Look for the dainty little posies, scattered at random, beckoning to be collected. This Folktale fabric collection is a romantic backdrop for an older time, one of fanciful tales and lore.

I get a lot of inquiries re: the Moda Bella Solids/Grunge coordinates, so I’ve included a list below… Keep in mind there are already a couple great basics built into the Folktale collection! Add a little extra sparkle to your backgrounds with the sweet multicolor “Magic Dot” print, or consider using the “Skinny Stripes” for sashing, accent blocks, borders, and bindings. They are a pretty sweet near-solid option that already matches the group perfectly.

  • Bella Solid #9900 178 “Etchings Stone”
  • Bella Solid #9900 97 “Bleached White”
  • Grunge #30150 91 “Vanilla”
  • Bella Solid #9900 103 “Golden Wheat”
  • Grunge #30150 115 “Elafin”
  • Bella Solid #9900 88 “Bubble Gum”
  • Bella Solid #9900 172 “Circa Celadon”
  • Grunge #30150 274 “Vert”
  • Bella Solid #9900 207 “Glacier”
  • Bella Solid #9900 41 “Chocolate”

Do you have a favorite print? I’m always a sucker for a dainty floral.

I have been searching to buy yardage of your Folktale Collection but can’t find the opportunity anywhere. Can you help me?

Ok. This is not good. Can’t fine folktale, that beautiful blue 512417. Can’t believe it’s gone already. Guess I’ll forget that sparkler pattern!

It’s a huge bummer how quickly that print sold out but the good news is there is a pretty good match for the blue as a Moda Bella Solid listed in this post.

I’m sure you no longer have any folktale available but I thought I’d give it a chance. I’m a a relatively new quilter and found a pattern that uses this collection and didn’t realize fabric collections aren’t available for long. Thank you.

          Hi Julie,

I don’t have any to sell but you might be able to find some online. I have had some luck finding older collections on Etsy or just google. Best of luck!

Is there going to be more yardage of your folktale fabric? I bought the collection and now can’t find any yardage!

      Hi Pam,

Folktale has been a super popular collection but there should still be some around–have you check on Etsy.com? Moda only does one printing of a collection and then it’s gone. Definitely grab some while you can! 🙂

Vanessa is there no way to get Moda to “reissue” or “reprint” a fabric line that has proven so popular? It came out during the lockdown and I didn’t even hear about it until late 2021 and early 2022 when it was being used by a bunch of people on a variety of QALs I’m in. By the time I went looking it was completely sold out of FQ bundles, even on Etsy! ((pout))

          Hey Sarah,

Thanks for the Folktale love. Unfortunately, Moda will not reprint but perhaps I can come out with a similar collection in upcoming years! That was one of my all-time favorite collections. I always appreciate the input 🙂

Hey Vanessa, so amazing luck 🙂 I found a FQ bundle of Folktale on Etsy (yay for Etsy resellers!) and now I have a customer who’s asking for a sampler (can’t wait to try some of the Moda BH4 blocks I skipped to focus on customer’s paying work – I gave her 30 block designs from which to choose 12 and most of the ones she chose were BH4 yippee) Alas, now I’m trying to match the green in Folktale for a black/green sashing (9-patch/stripes pairing) .

Most of your fabric lines are similar but not exact 🙁 I put some of my Love Note green (grass lovey dots) next to my Folktale greens and it’s not quite the same green–close but distinctly different shade!

Is the Bella Solids Prairie Green (FQS SKU# 9900-102) the same green? Looks close. I’d rather have a small print instead of a solid so are any of the Country Rose line going to be a green that will match? There’s a green with multicolored polkadots that looks a LOT like the green with dots in Folktale. Is it? That would be AWESOME if yes; if not please advise which solid or low volume print I could use instead. It will be paired with black solid but the blocks need to shine not be diminished by busy sashing, eh?

Thanks for any help matching up colors across fabric lines 🙂 Gotta love this industry right?

            Sarah

Have you tried looking overseas? I just got a load of Folktale from the UK. It took me a while to search through every website but I managed to find every fabric

What’s the name of this beautiful pattern – the one with stars and hexagons with Folktale bundle fabric to make? (I wish I can post a photo here to show you – it’s at the right panel on this page) Thanks!

I used the Moda Bella solid for my background in this quilt and it looks very good- almost as good as the original.

A beautiful collection and I have purchased all of the Folktale fabric I need to make a beautiful quilt except for the white Magic Dot Cloud (#5124 11). I cannot find it anywhere. Do you know of a source, or if there will be a 2nd release? Thank you.

I know you have recommended Bella solids and grunge to go with your Folktale line, but I’m wondering if you (or anyone else reading this) could recommend a white on white. I prefer that to solids. Thank you so much. I just love this line. I am only now starting to cut into it.
