Christmas Crew Quilt in Berry & Pine Fabric
Ho! ho! ho! Let’s give it up for Jolly Old St Nick and his loyal sleigh-pulling team of reindeer! We’ve gathered a few old favorite Christmas blocks and remixed them in sweet, holly jolly sashing. Grab a Jelly Roll or Layer Cake for the scrappy leaf-and-berry patches, and it’s off to the races to make the merriest quilt of the season. Say hello to the “Christmas Crew” Santa and reindeer quilt.
Pattern Tidbits
This “Christmas Crew” Santa and reindeer quilt is such a joy to piece. I would consider it advanced skill level – not because the technique is difficult per se – but because there are a lot of things going on. Most of the piecing involves an easy corner triangle (beginner) technique for the construction. Some of the pieces are small. I think an advanced beginner could tackle it! Here is the full layout of the “Christmas Crew” quilt with the “Forest” green background.
I’ve also mocked it up with a “Snow” Magic Dot background and a fun silvery border from the Berry & Pine collection. I will be piecing this other version – just haven’t gotten to it yet. Which version would you make?
Fabric
Speaking of fabric, I’m using the Berry & Pine collection that will arrive to shops in May. If this is a collection/kit you want to see in shops, the best thing to do is reach out to your favorite local/online shop and request it now so they can get it ordered. The holly and berry sashing is made from a Jelly Roll or Layer Cake which adds a fun level of scrappiness and variety to the quilt.
I played around with a different combination of Bella solids for Santa’s face. These are brighter than previous versions. Here is the full materials list for the dark green version shown in this post:
MATERIALS NEEDED
- *(1) Jelly Roll® (40 strips 2-1/2″ x WOF) – OR – (1) Layer Cake (40 squares 10″ x 10″) for berries/leaves (Berry & Pine SKU# 5240JR or 5240LC)

- **6-1/4 yards backing print (whatever you’d like, I always like a big floral like Berry & Pine SKU#5240 13) – OR – 2-1/2 yards of 108″ wide backing fabric (I’d do Magic Dot SKU #18026 20 “Forest”)
- 89” x 89” batting
