Christmas Eve fabric Mini Charm Pack projects Pillows

FREE: Giving Season Christmas Pillow Pattern

I can’t believe I almost forgot! Now that Christmas Eve fabric is in shops, that means my Giving Season PDF pillow pattern is officially available as a free download through Moda Fabrics. YIPEE! I designed this Christmas pillow project starring the cutest, teeniest holiday gift boxes you ever did see. Time to grab a mini charm pack and get stitching!

Wrap Those Presents

When you break open your Christmas Eve mini charm pack, you will designate (25) prints for gift boxes. The other (13) mini charm squares will be use for (a portion of) the bows. This is my favorite part – putting together box and bow print combinations. Now you may have noticed the math isn’t adding up… we’re missing (12) bow prints! This is where the 10″ x 10 square of white fabric comes in. So when picking your present combinations, keep in mind (12) of the bows will be white. (Or whatever accent print you want.)

MATERIALS NEEDED

These mini gift blocks were a joy to piece. (I adore piecing small things like this.) I used a charcoal background to make these prints pop, but you can choose whatever background will bring you joy. Here’s the official materials list:

  • 1 mini charm pack of Christmas Eve fabric (38 squares 2½” x 2½”)
  • 3/8 yard charcoal fabric (Bella #9900 284)
  • (1) square 10” x 10” white fabric (Bella #9900 98)
  • 3/8 yard pillow backing fabric (I used more #9900 284)
  • 20” x 20” batting
  • 18” x 18” pillow form

Once the gift blocks are sewn together, your pillow-top is ready to be quilted. You can do this yourself, or hire it out to a professional. I simply sewed vertical lines 1/4″ apart all the way across. (I centered the top over the batting square and inserted safety pins to prevent shifting).

I use a envelope method for the pillow closure. I think it is the most beginner friendly and if you haven’t ever made a pillow before, I think you’ll love it!

Other Gift Box Patterns

Did you know there are charm pack and Layer Cake versions of this design – but as quilt patterns? It’s true and they are just as fun to piece. Say hello to “Gift Swap” (5″ x 5″ charm square version) and “Nice List” (10″ x 10″ Layer Cake version)! I think I may have to make one of them to match my new pillow, what do you think? Which one should I choose?

I purchased a fat quarter bundle of Christmas Eve. I hope I can bring myself to open it. For now I just have to gaze at its beauty.

I think the Nice List quilt using your new Christmas Eve fabric. Thank you for the Free pattern of the pillow. I will have extra fabric left over from the bundle I purchased from Christmas Eve so I can make the pillow from that. Thank you

I love this pattern. I do like both the “Gift Swap” and the “Nice List” fabric designs but if you are wanting to make a quilt to go with your pillow you just made, I would use the “Gift Swap” as it is closer to the prints in your pillow. The nice list is also great and I love both prints on a lighter background. Good luck on picking your fabric, I’m sure either one would turn out great.

First of all. Thank you for the pattern to make the pillow. It was very kind of you. I think either quilt is fine, but I like Gift Swap because I like the smaller squares. The Nice List pattern is a good one though and might be a little easier to handle. I bought a layer cake of Christmas Eve fabric and also some yardage. I have lots of Cristmas Morning fabric left over from a quilt I made when Sherri and Chelsi had there Home for the Holidays sew along. It’s all so beautiful.

Ugh! I already bought the pattern. Had I known I would’ve waited. I would love to see “Nice List” next to your pillow.

The pattern has a piece F rectangle cut from the charcoal background at 1″ x 2 1/2″. I don’t see a piece F in the pattern. What am I missing?

Why does making something smaller automatically make it cuter? Love these tiny packages and their teeny bows. Thank you!
