Apple Dandy Quilt {the tester}
Talk about golden delicious. A couple weeks ago, I showed you “Apple Dandy” quilt I designed for BasicGrey using their upcoming Fruit Loop fabrics in a blog post here. Now I get to show you the “Apple Dandy” tester quilt featuring Midnight in the Garden fabric by Sweetfire Road. It’s so sweet and sophisticated with this blend of pinks, gold, charcoal and grey.
Pattern Tidits
The “Apple Dandy” quilt features a few different blocks. One is a simple, scrappy apple; another is sliced apple with a dainty half-pinwheel “seed” detail. These apple quilt blocks are alternated with a simple dashed-line block to space the apple blocks apart and keep the overall layout feeling simple and fresh.
The “Apple Dandy” pattern is Layer Cake friendly (meaning you can use precut 10″ squares or scraps). I only had a fat quarter bundle of Midnight in the Garden, so I cut my own Layer Cake from my favorite prints. I designed this pattern as a guest designer for BasicGrey, and the pattern can be found in their shop here.
Quilt Details
While the fabric used for this “Apple Dandy” tester quilt is primarily Midnight in the Garden by Sweetfire Road for Moda Fabrics, I did add a little of the Moda Bella solid #9900 425 “Rose Water.” I wanted a pop of a darker pink in the mix and this is what I had on hand. Of course, I used one of the apple prints for the backing!

June 12, 2023 at 8:08 amThis quilt was beautiful in Fruit Loop but this is simply gorgeous. I love these colours. This is so great that we quilters can completely change the look of a quilt simply by using different colourways. Great Job on this one!!! Love it!

June 12, 2023 at 12:35 pmI adore the colors in this quilt! I do not see what fabric the plain light peach/pink in the apples is. Would you please let me know what fabric that is? Thank you!

August 12, 2023 at 9:50 amI LOVE this version. Would a fat eighth bundle work as well?
