$5 in February 2023: the Moonwake Pattern
This month’s new $5 pattern is a throwback to the Smoke & Rust collection. February’s featured pattern is “Moonwake” – inspired by a word that describes the way the moon’s reflection seems to follow you as you walk along water. The blocks are pretty simple to make and are set on point for a cool geometric diamond design.
Moonwake in Country Rose Fabric
In designing this quilt, I leaned into the masculine feel of Smoke & Rust fabric for inspiration – but by no means is this strictly a masculine design. In fact, it’s quite versatile and can fit a modern or traditional vibe depending on the fabric you use. I did a quick little mockup using the charcoals/taupes/pinks/greens of Country Rose fabric currently in shops. “Moonwake” is fat quarter friendly – and if you look closely, you can see each print represented in two different spots throughout the quilt.
