Sewcialites 2: (Block 2)
Today I’m in Houston setting up for International Quilt Market, but wanted to pop in and share block 2 for Sewcialites free quilt of the week hosted by Fat Quarter Shop. Today’s block is called “Tussy Mussy” by Susan Ache. It reminds me of a bouquet of flowers!
Block 2: “Tussy Mussy“
This block is made using a traditional easy-corner triangle technique and feels a bit more intermediate to me. For a couple of the units, you will apply a flying geese technique twice! If you compare mine to the pattern, IIstrayed a bit from the recommended “scrappy” layout and placed my prints more symmetrically.
Fabric
Sadly, I won’t have time to sew up these blocks, so I’ll be making a “digital” quilt using Country Rose fabrics. I used the blues of the collection in this week’s block and would be making it in the 6″ finished block size.
I’ve also mocked it up in Christmas Eve fabrics (shipping May 2023) to give you a holiday version. FYI the Christmas Eve collection shares the same master color palette as my Christmas Morning collection from last year, so you could create a very similar look if you have any of that left.
Quilt Along
The FREE “Tussy Mussy” pattern link will be made available on the Jolly Jabber blog here first (typically 8 am CST), but I’ll add a button below as soon as it’s available so you can access it here:
