Calling all my pink-and-red lovers! I meant to post this a while ago and totally forgot! I introduced Love Blooms fabric and all of the new patterns last month, and couldn’t resist mocking up the scrappy “Butterfly Patch” layer cake quilt in it.

Pattern Details

One of my favorite things about this scrappy butterfly quilt is the fact you can make it with a Layer Cake (precut 10″ squares). It’s also the perfect for someone who wants dip their toes into a sampler type of project but at a beginner level. We make half-square triangles, nine-patches, skinny stripe blocks, and sawtooth stars to outline our pretty butterfly shape.

The Fabric

The Love Blooms collection gives a really different look to the Butterfly Patch design than previous versions. The big question is, what would you use for your background? Pink or white? Or something different entirely?

If you want to make the pink background version of Butterfly Patch, I’ve made a list of what you’ll need below. If you are interested in a kit, I recommend sharing this list with your favorite local or online shop so they an get supplies ordered now ahead of the November ship date.

• 1 Layer Cake (35 squares 10″ x 10″ – SKU 5220LC)
• 2-1/2 yards background fabric (SKU 5230-34) (white background version uses SKU 5230-39)
• 1 yard white print for wing center layer (SKU 5230-45) (white background version uses SKU 5222-14)
• 1/4 yard medium pink print for worm (SKU 5230-33)
• 5/8 yard binding print (SKU 5222-12)
• 4-1/4 yard backing fabric (SKU 5220-13)
