Rose in Bloom: Block of the Month
Hey patchwork lovers, I have some very exciting news! I’ve partnered up with Fat Quarter Shop to bring you a fun new sampler using Love Note fabric. It’s called the Rose in Bloom Block of the Month.
The Quilt
The Rose in bloom Block of the Month features 10 classic quilt block designs each in a 6″ finished block size. Every month will feature one design made 4x (in different print combinations) for a total of 40 blocks by the end. The sampler blocks will be arranged into this fancy flower-inspired layout finishing at 84.5″ x 84.5″. Fun fact – most of the blocks are beginner-friendly so it’s a great intro to quilt alongs.
How to Sign Up
Fat Quarter Shop has opened up signups for the Rose in Bloom Block of the Month for those who’d like to receive block kits each month. This signup will include a copy of the book + everything you need to make the quilt top + binding. (The book will ship with the first month’s kit.) It is anticipated to begin shipping November 2021.
Add a Backing Kit
Backing kits are sold separately and also available for preorder. The backing kit will include 8 yards of fabric total to make the pieced floral backing from the book (see below). Backing kits will ship the same time as the first month’s block kit (approx. November 2021).
Preorder the Book
Of course, you can purchase the Rose in Bloom: Block of the Month book by itself and use your own fabrics. This quilt design offers a layout option for any 6″ sampler blocks you’ve made from other quilt alongs (i.e. Sewcialites or Moda Blockheads). Preorder the book now and save 5%. It’s spiral-bound–a feature I love since it means the book can lay flat at the cutting table or at my sewing machine. Just remember you don’t need to purchase the book if you’re signing up for the Block of the Month subscription.
I don’t know about you but I’m counting down the days to November. Will you sew along with me?
Let me know if you have any questions about the Rose in Bloom Block of the Month in the comments below.

May 12, 2021 at 5:50 pmEver since you announced Love Notes I have been super excited about this particular fabric. My mom’s name is Marguerite, she passed in December. Ive been wanting fabric to make something in her memory. I do believe I have found it. 🥰

May 12, 2021 at 9:09 pmOh Connie, I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m honored you’d want to use this to make something in her memory. What a special quilt that will be.

May 23, 2021 at 11:43 amHi Diane. There are links in this post for purchasing the Rose in Bloom Block of the Month fabric kit through Fat Quarter Shop. You can also check in with your favorite local or online shop. I do know some shops are offering preorders for the Rose in Bloom kit (as one complete kit, not a block of the month). The shops I saw offering these complete kit preorder were “Happy Little Stitch Shop” and “Handmade is Heartmade.” You could always check in with them for a kit preorder – or any kind of Love Note fabric preorder for that matter. Hope that helps!

April 7, 2022 at 5:41 pmThank you for a beautiful quilt. I am now on block four. The block with hearts on pink fabric, the four patches are turned different, is this correct?

November 23, 2021 at 1:15 pmWhat size(s) of triangles on a roll papers are used in this quilt? I want to be sure I have the right ones in my stash!

November 28, 2021 at 10:34 amThat is a great question! You can use Fat Quarter Shop’s “Triangles on a Roll” papers to help make all of the half square triangles. Each block pattern includes the sizes of Triangles on a Roll needed but here is the overall list of sizes you’d use:
-1-1/2″ Half Square Triangle Paper (#H150)
-2″ Half Square Triangle Paper (#H200)
-3″ Half Square Triangle Paper (#H300)
-6″ Half Square Triangle Paper (#H600)

December 30, 2021 at 8:46 pmHi Kathy! Thanks for your comment. Because the fabric shipping schedules have been so crazy, I hadn’t planned anything official but maybe I can throw something together “real quick.” At minimum, I will be posting about the blocks each month.

March 3, 2023 at 10:51 amI just bought the book for this series, but cannot find anymore quilt kits. How do I know how much fabric to buy for the prints that just call for 10” squares? Would half yard be sufficient?
lellaboutique
March 10, 2023 at 12:09 pmhalf-yard would be more than sufficient. For most of them you could get by with a fat eighth or fat quarter.
