“Piña Colada” Pineapple Quilt in Garden Glam Fabric
Just add fabric – “Piña Colada” has all the right ingredients. Begin with fat eighths , mix in bold geometry, and watch the design come together into something graphic, playful, and full of tropical charm. Best enjoyed one stitch at a time, no rushing the good stuff.

Pattern Tidbits
This “Piña Colada” pineapple quilt uses fat eighths of Garden Glam fabric. It uses a rotating block to create a fun secondary diamond design. I would consider the skill level for this one to be intermediate or advanced since there are a lot of different components that make up the design. The techniques themselves are beginner (half square triangle and easy corner techniques) and there are some small pieces within the flower blocks. Even so, I pieced this quilt over a couple days – a lot quicker than I thought it was going to be.
This first version of “Piña Colada” shows an all-white background. The quilting is by Kaitlyn @ Knot and Thread. She used a pantograph called “Persimmon Leaf” by Rashida Coleman Hale for OESD Longarm Quilting.
The Teal Block Background Version
There is another option to add a second color for the block background. In the second version below, you can see I’ve used the new teal Magic Dot to really make the blocks pop!
Pretty fun, right? And WOWZA the custom quilting by Natalia Bonner is such a showstopper! Here’s a look at the full layout of the second quilt option. You could also do an inverse option with a white block background and teal sashing. So many possibilities! I had to really reign it in and only show two mockup favorites.
Quilt Details
Because the white sashing/teal block backgrounds are such a high contrast to each other, I opted for custom quilting since multiple thread colors are an option. Natalia Bonner of Piece N Quilt BLEW MY MIND with the custom quilting on this one. I’m especially crushing on the scallop detail on the border and the intricate stitching inside the sashing – all those little orange peel squares are insane!!
