Sewcialites 2: (Block 15)

Hey friends! I’ve been out of town all weekend so I’m a bit late posting the new block for the Sewcialites 2 free block of the week! Block 15 is “Brighten” by Minki Kim.

This “Brighten” block has a fun optical illusion to it. It’s classified as “beginner” skill level by Fat Quarter Shop which is great, to boot!

Fabric

The first block is mocked up in Country Rose fabric (in shops now) and is scaled to represent the 6″ finished block size. I love the farmhouse-look of the charcoal prints in this collection mixed together.

The second version is mocked up in Christmas Eve fabrics (expected May 2023). I kept the combination simple, but there are so many combos that would look stunning.

I was wondering what sewing machine you recommend for quilting? Do you use a long arm?

      Hi Irene.
I don’t actually quilt my own things most of the time – I send them to one of my long arm friends to do it for me. I have quilted things before on my domestic machine (a Bernina 550 QE) but it’s just easier to send it off.
