How To

New Videos {with Fat Quarter Shop}

I’ve gotten a little behind on blogging about my time visiting Fat Quarter Shop! The good news is, all the videos I filmed with them have been released so here’s a recap:

VINTAGE PICNIC

This is a quilt I designed exclusively for Fat Quarter Shop. It’s a fun fat quarter quilt using my Gooseberry fabric.

Here is a video showing you exactly how the quilt is made. I think you’ll come to agree it’s a piece of cake to make.

SOCIAL BUTTERFLY

Remember this one? It’s one of my bestselling patterns.

Here is a look at how the Social Butterfly block comes together:

SHUFFLE

And then there’s Shuffle–I have made this quilt several times over. This version was made for my nephew using Mixologie by Studio M for Moda.

Here is a little bit about how that quilt comes together:

And of course, one of my most popular videos on freemotion quilting:

Hope you enjoyed those. I had so much fun making these videos with Fat Quarter Shop. They are a fantastic group of people and I’m so proud to call them friends.

    Fun to learn about you and love your fabric and patterns! I sew on a 20+ year old Bernina and stitch number 4 is the same on mine, believe it or not! 🙂 Maybe that's a "thing" with Bernina…love it!

    Vanessa you are an excellent instructor. I'm so glad I stumbled upon your blog from April Rosenthal's blog, with your "Goody Goody Binding Kit" tutorial. What a winning design, I am definitely going to try it! (I also love your fabrics and patterns. Will have to invest in some of those as well!!)

    I am super frustrated because I first bought the book Charm School where I saw the Madame Butterfly quilt. I searched everywhere to find a tutorial on the pattern and I thought I had found it on the Social Butterfly post on YouTube. I bought the Charm Packs to make the quilt and I have been having trouble breaking down the pattern in the book. I don't have that much experience in constructing blocks. I got on the Fat Quarter site and bought the pattern because I thought it had the mini quilt pattern in it. So, I went back and bought the mini pattern. Now I'm about $45.00 into just the patterns and I'm still having trouble because each pattern uses different piecing. I've put all this money into the Charm Packs, and now into the patterns and I'm very frustrated. Do you have any suggestions to help me get moving on this? I really like this quilt and I have the Charm Packs. I'm so far into this money wise I am making it hell or high water.

    Send me an email and I'd be happy to talk you through it further. There's no tutorial for the patterns in my book since that would divulge copyrighted information. The assembly is very similar between the two, but the one in the book is actually more simplified and adapted for charm packs. Since you already have all that together, let's go for that. Just let me know what your specific questions are 🙂
